Fiancee / Marriage Visas
I can’t thank Kaushik and his team enough for reuniting me with my wife and son after 16 months of separation. When I came to Kaushik to handle my wife’s I-601 and I-212 waiver packet, we had just fired our previous lawyer. Our previous lawyer was terrible at communicating with us. In fact, there were times when there was no communication – no return phone calls or email responses.

When my wife and I got engaged in November 2006, we began to look into the process required to marry and live in the United States and it quickly became overwhelming. At this time I was living in Cape Town, South Africa and my wife was living in San Francisco.
As a couple we sought a law firm that could give us confidence in their expertise of the United States immigration system. We also sought a firm that would provide exceptional service at a more than reasonable price (a rare and hard find). We found Kaushik Ranchod through the Berkley Parents’ network forum recommendation. My wife set up an appointment with him and we both immediately felt comfortable with him aiding us on our journey ahead.
We have utilized Kaushik’s services from the process of acquiring my fiancé visa all the way through to obtaining my green card. Key points that stood out for us was Kaushik’s attention to all details. He thoroughly prepared us for every stage needed and not only made sure our paper work was in order and error free, but he also looked ahead for any anomalies that might have arisen. This helped immensely with ensuring our application process was smooth and error free and relieved us from a great deal of stress. Finally, our greatest pleasure with working with Kaushik was his honesty and openness with us. He always gave us realistic expectations and timelines. This helped us knowing at all times what position we were in and thus allowing us to plan and move forward accordingly.
A good immigration lawyer should do the following 1) ensure your paperwork is organized and complete, 2) crosscheck it with you to ensure accuracy and consistency 3) make sure you are prepared for any and all interviews, and 4) keep your expectations of processing time realistic. If your lawyer does 1-3 then he or she will have done everything they can to minimize the processing time of your case. The point is to avoid errors that can slow processing time and or lead to confusion or black marks on your filing. By the book works with the United States Government, and Kaushik worked with us and was responsive to our apprehension to ensure that our case went through without any errors or problems. It was not easy to find a nice attorney in bay area for us since we are new here. Alex and I had our interview this past Wednesday for his I-485, and everything went really well. While sitting in the enormous waiting area, we had the chance to observe so many different parties, clients and lawyers, who were undergoing a similar process. If we felt that we were in a position to benefit from professional assistance with the remainder of the legalities, I want you to know that we would not hesitate to call you. Your professionalism, innate courtesy and care far outweigh the qualities displayed by any of the lawyers we encountered in that enormous room. It’s a difficult thing to describe, the way in which you put us at ease with your breadth of knowledge and experience sitting beneath your calm and patient guidance. Things are going very well for us, and I want you to know how much we appreciate your part in ensuring that.
