What Will Happen with DACA?

DACA, or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, has been in the news more and more in recent years. The program was designed for children who came to the United States without their decision. For many of these kids, who can be quite older now, this is the only country they know. They may not even speak the language of the country they were brought from.

The program, originally instituted by executive order under President Obama, is under fire in the Trump Administration. This week host Kaushik Ranchod is joined by John Corcoran to discuss the past, current, and possible future of DACA.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn:

  • [2:24] What is DACA?
  • [3:14] Some kids don’t even know they weren’t born here
  • [4:33] Why DACA is in the news today
  • [5:10] When will the Supreme Court decide the fate of DACA, and what are the possible outcomes
  • [7:23] What the worst-case scenario would be
  • [8:18] Possible fallout if the Supreme Court rules executive orders unconstitutional
  • [9:22] What people can do while they wait for the ruling
